Policeman fingered in shooting death of Quindon Bacchus not released  -says Police Force

As protests erupted at Golden Grove on the East Coast of Demerara this morning over the police shooting death of Quindon Bacchus, the Guyana Police Force announced that the rank fingered in the shooting death remains confined to Police headquarters and has not been released from custody.

In response to the protest action which came amid reports that the rank had been released from custody, the Police Force said those reports are false, and the rank remains under open arrest.

The Police said the investigations into the shooting incident are still ongoing.

The Golden Grove youth, Quindon Bacchus was shot dead three weeks ago in the village of Haslington during an alleged undercover Police operation.

Police Special Branch rank, Kristoff Denobrega was placed under close arrest as the probe was launched into the shooting death. Denobrega moved to the High Court to be removed from close arrest pending possible charges.

The Police Complaints Authority has been investigating the shooting death.
