A 59-year-old security guard was today remanded to prison after he was charged with being in possession of 18 grams of cocaine.

The Court was today told that security guard, Colin Thompson, was arrested on the 25th January after he was nabbed with the illegal substance during a routine search at a check point. The man reportedly had the cocaine in a small pouch that was strapped to his waist.

After the charge was read to him, the man pleaded for bail, as he explained to the Court that he was ill and needed to be out to access his medication.

The Magistrate did not buy that demand and remanded him to jail until February 15, 2018.
