As of the 6th August, Region Nine had 106 active cases. Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony on Saturday announced that the Ministry has deployed additional doctors and other medical personnel to Region 9 as the numbers in the region continue to grow.

16 New COVID-19 Cases recorded; More testing to be done in Hinterland regions

The Health Ministry on Saturday revealed that a total of 16 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Guyana.

While the Ministry did not reveal the location of the new cases, the majority of new cases over the past month have been coming from the interior regions.

As of the 6th August, Region Nine had 106 active cases. Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony on Saturday announced that the Ministry has deployed additional doctors and other medical personnel to Region 9 as the numbers in the region continue to grow.

He said additional testing kits and personal protective gears are also being dispatched to the region.

Guyana has also been receiving additional testing kits to assist with more widespread testing. On Saturday, it was announced that the Government of Barbados had sent in an additional 15,000 PCR testing kits.

A day before, a large shipment of protective gear and rapid testing kits were also sent to Guyana by the Caribbean Public Health Agency.
