16 persons in COVID-ICU as cases continue to climb

Guyana recorded 37 new cases as of midnight last night and that takes the total number of active cases to 1047 with 896 of those persons in home isolation. There continues to be concern that additional monitoring of those in home isolation is needed to ensure adherence to the health guidelines.

16 persons in COVID-ICU as cases continue to climb

There are currently sixteen persons in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Hospital and Health Officials remain worried about the ongoing increase in COVID-19 cases.

One health official described the situation in the ICU as “chaotic” as all of the patients appear to be in a critical condition.

Guyana recorded 37 new cases as of midnight last night and that takes the total number of active cases to 1047 with 896 of those persons in home isolation. There continues to be concern that additional monitoring of those in home isolation is needed to ensure adherence to the health guidelines.

The total number of deaths up to news time remained at 98. The total recovery rate has been climbing with 2165 persons making full recoveries from the 3329 cases recorded in Guyana so far.
