Police and Geology and Mines investigators are once again moving in to the Konawaruk area in the Potaro community following another deadly mining accident.
An 18-year-old miner who has been identified as Ramal Williams of 58 Miles, Mabura Road, died on Sunday after he became trapped in a mining pit when it collapsed.
When the teen was eventually pulled from the collapsed pit and rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Last year, there were at least eight mining deaths in the same Konawaruk mining community. Those deaths prompted a Commission of Inquiry which has made several recommendations that ought to be taken on board to deal with unsafe mining practices.
