Police investigators have traveled to 17 Miles, Rockstone Village in the Essequibo river, where a young miner was shot to death.
The Guyana Police Force this morning reported that 19-year-old miner, Joel Amad was found dead with a gunshot wound on Monday evening. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.
According to the Police, the man’s body bore a suspected gunshot injury to the stomach. The body is presently at the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
Amad was last seen alive earlier yesterday.
Investigations revealed that he visited his child’s mother at Rockstone Village and just after 7pm, he reportedly ventured into the forest nearby to hunt.
Shortly after he left for the forested area, a loud explosion was heard. Moments later, Amad’s body was discovered in a pool of blood.
The investigation is ongoing.
