A prisoner, who was recently recaptured after escaping from the Lusignan prison, was sentenced to 20 years in jail today after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

36-Year-Old Kendall Skeete, kept a broad smile on his face as he stood before Justice James Bovell-Drakes to face sentencing after pleading guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

He was accused of murdering 27-year-old, Kenneth Allen.

The Court heard today that throughout his life, Skeete showcased a bad temper and it was back in 2008  that Kenneth Allen witnessed a group of men robbing another man.  He offered to help the victim at Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara, but the men turned their attack on him and he was stabbed several times about his body.

In a statement, the Judge told the convicted man that he should stay out of trouble whenever he gets out of prison.

In response to the sentence, Skeete told the Court that he apologizes to the Family of the dead man and also apologies for breaking the laws of Guyana.  He saluted the Court, just before being taken away in handcuffs to begin his 20 year sentence.
