He must have been tired of living a life as a thief, so during a break-in at a home, 48-year-old Paul Narine decided to take a nap, but was awakened by the homeowner and turned over to Police.

In Court today, the man was sentenced to 24 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to breaking into the home of Onika Stanford and carting off a number of items including gas bottles.

The man along with an alleged accomplice, reportedly returned to the house and it was then that he fell asleep.

The homeowner said when she returned home, she realised something was wrong when she noticed the security bars at her window broken down.

She entered the house and found the man asleep in her bed with her mother’s shoes on his feet. The woman contacted the Police and raised an alarm. The tired thief left the shoes behind as he was whisked off by the Police.

In Court today, he appeared barefooted and admitted to the crime. The Magistrate immediately sentenced him to 24 months in jail.

His co-accused pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.
