25 lbs of cocaine busted in Boulanger at CJIA

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit early on Saturday morning busted over 25 pounds of cocaine in a shipment of boulanger/eggplant that was destined for Toronto, Canada.

The drug bust took place at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport just as the shipment was being prepared for a Caribbean Airlines flight bound for Toronto.

The shipper has been arrested and a number of other arrests could be made before Monday. There were several other vegetables in the drug laden shipment.

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit has been stepping up its monitoring of shipments at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. There have been a number of bust over the years involving shipments of vegetables and fish. Many of the shipments would be destined for Canada. In the past, cocaine was found on ochro, cabbage, fish and fruits.
