A fight between a 26-year-old Werk-en-rust man and his 30-year-old reputed wife ended with the man’s murder late last night at the hands of the wife.
The dead man has been identified as Leroy Dey.
A Police report said that after being away from their home for four days, Dey showed up on Tuesday night and an argument ensued with his reputed wife, Shaneiza Clarke after she questioned him about the money to pay the rent for their home.
The Police report said a scuffle started between the two and the man slapped the woman across the face before picking up a piece of wood and lashing her across the body.
In retaliation, the woman armed herself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the man to his chest.
The injured man attempted to walk away from the scene but collapsed and was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital. He died while doctors were tending to his injury.
The woman was arrested but later taken to the same hospital to be treated for various injuries to her body. She has since been released into Police custody.
The Police said a full investigation has been launched and charges in the matter could be filed soon, based on the advice of the DPP.
