29 years in jail for child rapist

52-year-old, Gingnesh khan aka “Links” who was two weeks ago found guilty of raping a 9-year-old girl, was sentenced to 29 years in jail today for the act.

In the courtroom of Justice Brassington Reynolds, Khan showed no signs of emotions as the sentence was handed down to him.

His probation report stated he continues to deny that he committed the act even after the jury returned its guilty verdict.

It was also revealed in the report that Khan had also sexually assaulted animals and was known as a village drunk because of his regular consumption of alcohol.

The rape of the young child occurred between August 1-31, 2008 on the East Bank of Essequibo.

The victim is now 20-years-old and in a letter to the Court, she recounted the incident and how it has changed her life. The woman told the Court that she is still traumatized by the ordeal and the embarrassment it caused her as the village was aware of what had taken place. She said she was forced to move out of the village.

Justice Reynolds labelled the convict a “very sick man”, pointing out that he had defiled the young woman in a violent way.

The Judge sentenced the man to 29 years in prison.
