In a statement, the Ministry explained that a 29-year-old woman from Region 6 and a 72-year-old man from Region 4 were admitted but their positive test results came back after their deaths.

The Health Ministry late Tuesday night announced that two more persons have died from the coronavirus in Guyana and that takes the total number of deaths to 43.

In a statement, the Ministry explained that a 29-year-old woman from Region 6 and a 72-year-old man from Region 4 were admitted but their positive test results came back after their deaths.

The release did not provide details as to when the two were admitted, when they died or when the positive results were confirmed.

But the Ministry has indicated that it has been in contact with the relatives of the two as part of contact tracing efforts.

The two latest deaths has taken the number of deaths in the past month to 23. There were 20 deaths in the previous four months.

On Tuesday, the Health Ministry also announced that there are 67 new cases of coronavirus in Guyana, taking the total number of recorded cases to 1373.

The total number of active cases in the country stands at 579 with 512 of those active cases being allowed to isolate at home.
