The Guyana Police Force has placed three of its own ranks under close arrest following claims by a 16-year-old young man who reportedly works as a commercial sex worker, that he was taken to the police mobile outpost outside the Stabroek market and sodomised by the three policemen.

According to a statement from the police, an investigation has been launched into the matter and the three ranks have been removed from duty and placed under arrest. The incident reportedly took place just after 9 o’clock on Sunday night in the busy market square area.

There are reports that the teenager was taken to the hospital where a medical examination was carried out. A full statement detailing the allegation was also handed over to the police.

This latest incident comes at a time when the Police Force is awaiting advice into another sodomy matter which allegedly took place in the Timehri area back in November. In that incident, the complainant who was a prisoner said he was brutally sodomised with a police baton while in custody.
