One month after the lifeless bodies of a hotel owner and one of his workers were found at his Corentyne resort, a 46-year-old farmer appeared in Court today to answer the two murder charges.
The farmer, Alvin Druean appeared before the Chief Magistrate this morning and was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge.
The Court heard that between the 19th and 27th December 2019 at the Sunsplash Holiday Beach Resort, Druean murdered the hotel owner 71-year-old, Vivekanand Narpatty, and his employee, Harry Persaud.
According to the Police, the bodies of the two men were found in a decomposed state with some body parts missing.
Blood was found splattered on the wall of a room, giving the impression that the men might have been beaten and chopped to death.
The hotel owner who lived in Canada was planning to move back to Guyana and renovate his hotel. It had been closed for a number of years.
Another suspect is still being grilled and could face charges soon.
The #1 accused, Alvin Druean has been remanded to jail. His next Court appearance is set for the 12th February.
