58 year old man killed in Stanley town accident

Two drivers are in police custody following an accident that claimed the life of a 58 year old motorcyclist. The dead man has been identified as Carl Wright of 71 Bagotsville, West Bank Demerara.

According to the Police, at about 7:15 on Thursday night, mini bus BDD 1690, motor car PMM 1009 and motor cycle CF 290 were involved in an accident which resulted in the death of the man.

 The Police in a statement said investigations have revealed that Carl Wright was riding motor cycle CF 290 proceeding north along Stanley Town Public Road when as he was about to pass the parked mini bus BDD 1690, the driver Byron Sampson opened the right side door.
Wright collided with the door and fell in the path of motor car PMM 1009 which was being driven in the opposite direction by Nicholas Lopes.
The motorcyclist was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
