The arrest yesterday of the latest suspect came after four persons were initially arrested in connection with the same crime. The Police said a sixth person is being sought.

5th suspect arrested over murder of visiting Guyanese in Berbice

The Guyana Police Force has arrested a fifth suspect as it continues its probe of the murder of 60-year-old Hemraj Pardesi in Reliance Settlement, Berbice.

The arrest yesterday of the latest suspect came after four persons were initially arrested in connection with the same crime. The Police said a sixth person is being sought.

Pardesi who lives overseas, returned to Guyana in early July to begin reconstruction of his home. On the same day that he was murdered, he was seen earlier visiting a commercial bank.

Police suspect that on Tuesday night the man was lured out of his house and attacked. Investigators said he was found at the home with ducktape around his neck and bleeding from his nose. Drops of blood were also found on the stairs leading to the upper flat of his house.

The house was ransacked. The Police investigation is ongoing.
