One year shy of officially becoming a pensioner, 64-year-old, Bent Street resident, Joseph Allen found himself before the Courts today facing illegal gun and ammunition charges.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and received a two year suspended sentence on each charge.

The elderly man appeared before the Chief Magistrate this morning and pleaded guilty to being in possession of a 9mm gun without being the holder of a firearm license and also being in possession of 11 round of ammunition.

The Court was told that the man was arrested as part of a larceny investigation. A search of his belongings revealed the gun and ammunition stashed in bag that was in his possession.
