In its release today, the Public Health Ministry revealed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Guyana jumped by seven overnight, taking the total overall confirmed cases to 104.

The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Guyana continues to climb even as other Caribbean countries are seeing no new cases and low cases prompting a reopening of their countries.

In its release today, the Public Health Ministry revealed that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Guyana jumped by seven overnight, taking the total overall confirmed cases to 104.

There were three new cases the day before.

According to the Public Health Ministry, there are 59 active cases with 1 person in quarantine and six persons in the Coronavirus Intensive Care Unit.

The country has already recorded 10 deaths related to the coronavirus.

A total of 914 tests have been completed and the mobile clinics will continue to move across the city from Monday.

A mobile clinic is to be set up in the Alberttown area on the Merriman’s Mall from Monday. That clinic will remain there until Wednesay, according to the Public Health Ministry.

Other clinics will continue operations at locations on the East Bank and East Coast of Demerara.

Georgetown remains the epicenter of the coronavirus in Guyana. The city ward of Kitty has the highest total number of cases in the country.

The Public Health Ministry is once again encouraging citizens to follow the health guidelines to fight the disease.
