Dynamic International Airways has officially ended its service to Guyana. The service came to an end on October 3, 2017, and according to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ray Laylor, the move was necessary “as we continue to reorganize in our Chapter 11 case. We regret this development and take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their support over the last four years that we have served the Guyana market.”

In a statement, the CEO also assured all passengers, who had already paid for their flights with Dynamic that they will be refunded.

“Those passengers who would have paid for tickets to travel after October 3 can be assured of refunds and Dynamic intends to honor its outstanding debt to the Airport and Civil Aviation authorities,” the CEO said.

He noted that the company is aware of the tremendous inconvenience the end to its Guyana service will cause to its customers, “who have loyally supported us over the years, for that we do apologize”.

Just over two weeks ago, local travel agents were notified that they should stop booking flights on Dynamic Airways because of a move to suspend the airline’s service.

Dynamic started its service to Guyana just over three years ago and its ride was very bumpy at times, with many delays and cancellations during peak periods.

The CEO said the company regrets having to discontinue service to Guyana at this time but will soon enter into discussions “with an interested party about serving this market under a new arrangement which is permitted as we seek to reorganize”.

The airline now prefers for its planes to be leased to another company that may want to serve the Guyana market.

Local company Roraima Airways, which served as local representatives for Dynamic, was left surprised by the airline’s move.  Roraima will likely have to shed close to 50% of its workforce as a result of Dynamic pulling out of the Guyana market.
