All suspects in murder of Henry cousins released on station bail; DNA evidence gathered for testing

The Guyana Police Force has announced that as it continues its probe of the double murder of teenage cousins, Joel and Isaiah Henry, it has released all of the suspects who were initially held.

The Force has however indicated that the suspects have to make scheduled visits to the Blairmont Police station. Two other suspects are now being sought.

In an update of the probe this evening, the Police Force said at the beginning of the probe, the investigators were confronted with some challenges as it relates to accessing the crime scene with the roads being blocked.

However, once the ranks on the ground ensured safe passage for the investigators and crime scene ranks, preliminary findings showed that the bodies of the Henry boys were discovered at a secondary crime scene., meaning that the murders were not committed where the bodies were found.

Based on the probe so far, the Police said persons moved the bodies after the murder and placed them at the locations where they were subsequently discovered.

The Force explained that forensic evidence has been gathered from the scene of the discovery.

The evidence was identified, collected preserved and submitted to the Guyana Forensic Laboratory for DNA analysis to be conducted.

The DNA samples, according to the Police were also collected from the suspects who were in custody and sent for a comparative analysis to be conducted against the forensic evidence collected from the secondary crime scene.

Results are expected within three weeks.

The Force said its investigators are actively in search of the primary crime scene which would greatly assist in the probe as the primary crime scene will have an abundance of evidence linking the perpetrators to the crime.

The Force said the investigators are all actively following up every lead and information received from members of the public who have come forward to assist investigators.
