It appears as though the drug pushers in Guyana are not letting up in their efforts to get the cocaine out. Agents attached to the Narcotics Branch of the Guyana Police Force busted an American citizen with just over five pounds of cocaine stashed in his suitcases.

The 28-year-old man was a New York bound passenger who was preparing to board a Caribbean Airlines flight when the bust was made.

According to the police, the cocaine was stashed in the false sides of the suitcases. He was immediately arrested and will face drug trafficking charges before the end of this week.

Last weekend, a 70-year-old Guyanese woman was busted in New York with four pounds of cocaine in her underwear. The woman who has been identified as Olive Fowler was able to make it pass local security but was busted on her arrival in New York. She has been remanded to prison in the US as she face drug trafficking charges.

And a Guyanese man who worked at the Guyana Sugar Corporation as a Communications Officer was also busted in the US last week after he arrived on a flight from Guyana. The man, Thenga Adams admitted to having knowledge of the cocaine being hidden in four pairs of sneakers that were in his luggage. He was arrested and is facing drug trafficking charges.
