Another miner murdered at interior location

The bloodshed continue in Guyana’s mining districts and the Guyana Police Force on Monday reported on the latest murder of a miner at an interior location.

Forty-five year old Glendon Cox of Aberdeen, Essequibo Coast was stabbed to death just before 1 o’ clock on Monday morning during an argument with another miner at 4 Miles, Arakaka, North West District.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force said the suspect has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Over the past year, there has been an increase in murders and violent crimes in many of the gold mining communities. There have been calls for more police patrols and presence in the areas. Several of the murder cases remain unsolved mysteries.
