Another woman jumps over Kaieteur falls during tour

Tours of the Kaieteur Falls national park have once again been suspended after a 21-year-old woman plunged to her death over the 741 ft. waterfalls.

The incident took place midmorning on Saturday during a tour to the area. The woman has been identified as Roshinee Pagwah.

According to reports, she was among a group of tourists to the well known site, when she ran away from the group and leaped over the falls. Tour guides tried and failed to catch up with her as she raced towards the edge and plunged over.

The incident left other tourists shocked and in disbelief. Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed the incident to News Source and said an investigation is already underway. The tour guides and tourists who were on the trip, are to be questioned this afternoon.

Persons who were on the trip said the woman did not showcase any signs of depression and did not behave in a manner that caused concern. A search and recovery team has also been dispatched to the area to locate the woman’s body.

This incident comes just two months after a Durban Backlands woman,Gyaneshwarie “Laleta” Sivanand, lept to her death over the falls.  She reportedly ended her life over relationship issues.  Six years ago, a third woman took her life the same way.

Investigations into the latest incident are ongoing.
