In a statement this afternoon, the APNU+AFC coalition issued a call on citizens to remain calm and peaceful

The Coalition said it is urging all Guyanese to respect the will of the people as exercised in the General and Regional Elections, adding that all Guyanese should conduct themselves in a peaceful and law-abiding manner as they go about their daily activities.

The APNU+AFC said citizens should not engage in any act whatsoever to disrupt national life or cause any strife or inconvenience.

Protests broke out in a number of areas on Friday morning as supporters of the People’s Progressive Party demanded a restart of the verification process for the Region 4 elections.

The results for the Region 4 elections have already been declared and the PPP has already requested a recount.
