The Guyana Police Force has announced that a probe has been launched into the murder of a 24-year-old Bagotstown man, who was reportedly wanted for the murder of a Providence teenager.

According to a police report, the dead wanted man who has been identified as Jermaine Simon of Norton Street, Bagotstown,  was riding a bicycle in the village when a man rushed out from his yard and discharged a shot at Simon. The incident occurred around 8:30pm on Tuesday.

Simon was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. It is unclear whether the two men had any previous disagreement or confrontation.

However, the suspect hurried away from the scene and has gone into hiding. The probe continues.

Meanwhile, a fire completely gutted the home of the murder suspect on Wednesday afternoon.
