Bandit shot dead during robbery at Queenstown hotel

The hotel is located in Crown Street, Queenstown. The Police report said a worker attached to the hotel had just exited a taxi and was waiting on the security to open the gate, when the bandit held him at gunpoint and relieved him of his belongings.

An armed bandit, who was shot dead as he carried out an attack at El Sol Hotel in Queenstown, is still to be identified.

According to a Police report, the man was shot dead around 4:30 this morning by an armed security guard.

The hotel is located in Crown Street, Queenstown. The Police report said a worker attached to the hotel had just exited a taxi and was waiting on the security to open the gate, when the bandit held him at gunpoint and relieved him of his belongings.

As an alarm was raised, the armed security guard rushed to the entrance of the yard where he opened fire when the bandit pointed a gun in his direction.

The unknown bandit was hit and collapsed and died at the scene. Police investigators said they were able to recover the unlicensed firearm belonging to the bandit as well as the belongings of the hotel worker.

The investigation is ongoing.
