The 32-year-old man who was shot dead by a Yarrowkabra shopkeeper during a robbery attempt on Sunday, has been identified as the same man who was busted at New York’s JFK Airport with cocaine in cream liqueur in 2014. He was deported in 2015.

The man, Raphael Armstrong called “Scar” was shot dead on Sunday night after he allegedly broke into the house of a shopkeeper and allegedly attempted to rob the man.

The Police report said that during a scuffle with the businessman, he lost his weapon and the businessman grabbed the same gun and shot Armstrong multiple times to the body while his alleged accomplice escaped.

But Police investigators are still probing the case.

Armstrong made headlines in New York and Guyana in 2014, when he arrived at the JFK Airport on a flight from Guyana and was busted with a quantity of cocaine in bottles of cream liqueur.

US Court records have revealed that he was released from prison in October 2015.  He may have been deported just after to Guyana just after.

The shooting incident took place on Sunday night, ironically, in the same Yarrowkabra community that was the scene of a major drug bust on Friday night.

Last Friday, agents from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit and the Guyana Revenue Authority busted over 100 pounds of cocaine packed in over 300 pieces of plywood that was being prepared for export to the United States.
