Biden meets CARICOM Leaders

Vice President of the United States Joe Biden arrived in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday evening for his meetings with CARICOM leaders and the Trinidad and Tobago Government. The Tuesday meetings come at a time when cooperation between the US and Caribbean countries are strong.

A number of issues including trade and narco trafficking are expected to be discussed at the meeting with the Caricom Heads of Government. The US Vice President in an interview carried in Monday’s Trinidad Express Newspapers praised the region for its relationship with the US Government over the years.

He said ties between the US and Caricom remain very strong and are expected to remain that way. The United States has been investing millions in the region especially in the area of trade and fighting cocaine trafficking and organised crime.

Guyana’s President Donald Ramotar is among the CARICOM leaders meeting with the US Vice President on Tuesday.
