According to reports, he is a money changer in the America Street area but was on High Street to park his car when he was cornered and shot. The incident took place just after 10am.

Police investigators are on the scene of a shooting just outside the Ashmin’s Store on High Street, that has left a money changer dead.

The dead man has been identified as Phillip Allen of Grove, EBD.

According to reports, Allen worked as a money changer in the America Street area, but was on High Street to park his car when he was cornered and shot. The incident took place just after 10am.

Persons in the busy area said they did not realise what had taken place until they spotted the man’s body in front of the Ashmin’s building.

The ambulance was summoned and he was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot injury to the head.

The man’s nephew told News Source that Allen would usually park his car in the High Street area and walk across to America Street where he conducted his foreign currency exchange business.

Sources at the Georgetown Hospital indicated that doctors battled to save his life, but lost their fight as the man remained in an unconscious state with the gunshot wound to the head.

His son later told News Source that he passed away.

Police investigators remain on the scene of the shooting.
