British citizen busted with cocaine in milk tins at CJIA

A 29-year-old man who was traveling on a British passport was arrested on Friday  afternoon at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with a quantity of cocaine stashed in powder milk tins. The bust was made by agents of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit.

His arrest was the second such drug trafficking arrest at the local airport, for the July 4th, 2014 date.

Early on Friday morning, an American citizen was busted as he attempted to ferry over 14 pounds of cocaine out of the country in milk powder packets.

Both men, though in separate busts, were heading to New York city. The British citizen was getting ready to board a Travelspan flight when he was arrested. The American citizen was preparing to board a Dynamic Airways flight when police narcotics officers effected his arrest.

Investigators are now looking to see if the two cases may be connected in any way since the drug trafficking efforts were done in a similar fashion. Both men are expected to appear in court in the new week.
