According to reports, Grant, who is a businessman in Lethem, made a report to the Police that the two defendants were plotting to kill him. The Police in Lethem then visited a hotel and found Singh with a firearm in his possession.

Businessman and accomplice to stand High Court trial over alleged murder plot

Two men were today committed to stand trial by the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly plotting to murder a Lethem businessman.

57-year-old Mark Grimmond of Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and 36-year-old Chatterpaul Singh of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD) were committed to face a Judge and Jury following the completion of the Preliminary Inquiry. 

It is alleged that between April 1, 2018, and June 7, 2019, at Georgetown, they conspired with persons known and unknown to murder Dwayne Grant.

The Chief Magistrate ruled today that a sufficient case was made out against the defendants.

Grimmond and Singh will remain on $500,000 bail.

Grimmond is the owner of Mark Interior Communication Inc. and also manages Rockies Bar and Hotel in Georgetown.

According to reports, Grant, who is a businessman in Lethem, made a report to the Police that the two defendants were plotting to kill him.
The Police in Lethem then visited a hotel and found Singh with a firearm in his possession.

Singh was taken into Police custody and reportedly admitted that he was contracted by Grimmond to kill Grant.

Grimmond was later arrested and taken into Police custody and telephone records from both men were obtained. The matter now moves to the High Court.
