Businessman shoots motorcycle riding bandit dead during attempted robbery

A Division Commander, Asst. Police Commissioner, Clifton Hicken, told News Source this afternoon that based on reports received, the businessman had just left a gas station in the area when two motorcycle bandits rode up alongside him and pulled out a firearm.

An armed bandit was shot dead on Friday afternoon just before 3 o’ clock as he attempted to rob a businessman just outside a gas station on the East Bank of Demerara in the McDoom area.

The dead gunman has only been identified as “Gary” and it is believed that he lived in the Bagotstown area.

A Division Commander, Asst. Police Commissioner, Clifton Hicken, told News Source this afternoon that based on reports received, the businessman had just left a gas station in the area when two motorcycle bandits rode up alongside him and pulled out a firearm.

The businessman whipped out his firearm and fired several shots in the direction of the two men, hitting one, who fell from the motorcycle, while the other one ran from the scene.

The injured bandit was taken to the Diamond Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Persons from the Bagotstown community who are familiar with the dead man, said his name had been called as a suspect in a number of robberies and other gun crimes.

Police investigations are underway.
