C’bbean Airlines to begin daily non-stop flights between Gtown and NYC

Caribbean Airlines has announced that it will launch a daily non stop service between Georgetown and New York in both directions from January 15, 2015.

Currently all of the airline’s flights between the two destinations stop in Trinidad and Tobago. The announcement comes just weeks after Caribbean Airlines announced that it was bringing an end to its non-stop service between Georgetown and Toronto. All flights on that route will now stop in Trinidad and Tobago.

When it begins that non stop service, it will join Dynamic Airways as the only carriers offering non stop service. Fly Jamaica flights between New York and Georgetown currently stop over in Kingston Jamaica while Copa Airline flights between the same two destinations stop in Panama City.

Two years ago, some US airlines had complained against airlines that are not registered in Guyana operating a non-stop service. Caribbean Airlines had objected to the move to block the carrier from the non stop service.

The regional airline also announced that from January 15, 2015, its new baggage policy will be put in place. The airline will charge passengers US$25 for their second check in bag. Only one check in suitcase and a carry on piece will be allowed free.

Caribbean Airlines said that move is being done to keep up with other airlines across the world that  already have the system in place.
