CARICOM and African Export-Import Bank sign partnership agreement

The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the Cheddi Jagan Airport between Guyana's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugh Todd and the President of the bank, Professor Benedict Oramah.

CARICOM and African Export-Import Bank sign partnership agreement

CARICOM and the African Export-Import Bank have signed an agreement for the establishment of a partnership between the bank and the regional body.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the Cheddi Jagan Airport between Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugh Todd and the President of the bank, Professor Benedict Oramah.

President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley along with Guyana Government officials witnessed the signing.

A statement from the Office of the President explained that the agreement aims to facilitate cooperation, support and provide assistance of all types and nature, to enable the promotion and financing of South-South trade between African countries and Member States of the Caribbean Community.

Before the signing of the agreement, a Guyanese delegation led by President Ali and a Barbadian delegation led by Prime Minister Mottley met with a team from African Import-Export bank.
