Charles Ramson Snr. no longer in state’s employ as Commissioner of Information

Retired Judge and former Attorney General under the PPP Government, Charles Ramson, is no longer the Commissioner of Information.

It was revealed today in the National Assembly by Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, that Mr. Ramson was relieved of that position in March of this year.

Ramson was appointed to the Constitutional position under the PPP and refused to step down from the position when the Government changed. He maintained his office in the President’s complex for several months and eventually moved it to his private residence, but was reportedly not providing any work or reports on his job.

The government had stopped paying him back in 2017 and that forced him to file a court case seeking the money he said is owed to him.

This morning during the consideration of the budget estimates, Minister of State, Joe Harmon revealed that no money has been allocated in the budget for the office of the Commissioner of Information. A few hours after, it was the Prime Minister who explained that Ramson had been fired.
