Check in system problem causes major flight delays at CJIA

A number of flights were delayed in their departure from Guyana’s Cheddi Jagan Airport and the airline companies are hoping that the internet connectivity issue affecting their check in systems could be solved soon.

A senior airline official complained to News Source on Monday that at least 4 international airlines were forced to delay their departures over the past few days as a result of the problem.

Dynamic Airways, Insel Air, Caribbean Airlines and Eastern Air, have all faced delays as a result of the problem

Sources close to the Cheddi Jagan Airport are blaming poor internet connectivity as the cause of the problem. An official of the airport said efforts are underway to address the issue.

The delays are coming at a time when airlines are busy trying to keep up with the hectic summer travel schedule.  Airlines plying the Georgetown route have seen increased numbers of departure and arrivals.
