Drug Enforcement agents in Guyana and the United States are probing the discovery of a quantity of cocaine in the baggage hold of a Dynamic Airways jet which arrived at New York’s JFK Airport from Georgetown, Guyana on Tuesday night.

The discovery was reportedly made by a baggage handler at the JFK Airport, who found the small package of cocaine while clearing the luggage from aircraft. News Source understands that the cocaine weighed just over two pounds.

An official of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit in Guyana, has confirmed the discovery and the probe.

Investigators believe that the cocaine may have been stashed on the aircraft during loading in Guyana by one of the local baggage handlers and should have been picked up by a baggage handler at the JFK Airport.

News Source understands that local investigators are already probing all of the handlers who worked on the Dynamic Airlines flight which left Guyana on Tuesday afternoon and arrived in New York later that night.

The handler who discovered the package at the JFK Airport, was initially questioned by US agents after he brought it to their attention.

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit in Guyana is leading the local probe with assistance from the US authorities.
