Commercial sex workers remanded over robbery of “client”

Two male commercial sex workers who had previous brushes with the law, were remanded to jail today on a robbery charge.

19-year-old, Godfrey Cox and 21-year-old, Kevin Forester appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and denied the robbery allegation.

The charge stated that on the 24th October on Croal Street, the two robbed Victor Best of $158,000 while being the company of another person.

The Police Prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence along with pending matters before the Court for similar matters.

In a statement, one of the accused, Kevin  Forrester told the court that the victim approached them for sexual services but later attacked one of their friends.

The two sex workers said they chased after the man who sprinted towards the Stabroek market park screaming for “murder”.

Earlier this year, the two were charged for robbing two other men and that case is ongoing in the Court.

After listening to the facts of the case, the Magistrate remanded both of the sex workers to prison until November 20.
