According to the tour company, Wilderness Explorer, the man was not seriously injured but the company regrets that the incident took place during the attempt to develop the local tourism sector.

One of the crew members for the cruise ship currently docked in Georgetown was robbed late last evening after he ventured out on his own for a nightlife experience.

According to a statement from the tour company, the Police worked along with the company to facilitate an evening tour of Guyana nightlife for the visiting tourists.

However, one crew member went against advice and ventured out on his own late last evening to visit some nightspots.

He was reportedly relieved of a phone and cash as he walked alone along Lombard Street after taking a taxi to the area from a nightclub.

The small cruise ship brought in 77 passengers and crew members from Antigua. Most of the tourists are from the United Kingdom.
