A female Guyana Revenue Authority Customs Officer attached to the Cheddi Jagan Airport and a former Customs Anti Narcotics Unit Officer have been arrested in connection with a drug bust at the airport involving a 25-year-old woman, who once worked in the media.

The 25-year-old was held on Friday night by CANU agents with a quantity of cocaine concealed in the false sides of a laptop bag that was in her carry-on luggage.

She was at the time preparing to board a New York-bound flight when CANU agents carried out their search and found the illegal substance.

News Source understands that based on investigations by CANU after the woman’s arrest, the other two suspects were arrested and searches for other suspects are underway.

The three remain in CANU custody as the investigations continue.
