Digicel introduces its own smartphone

The smartphone market has found itself another competitor but this time, it’s a mobile service provider that is entering the field.

Digicel Guyana on Thursday announced that the company “is making the Android experience affordable and accessible to all with the launch of its own affordable smart phone”.

According to the company, the  new and exceptional Digicel Smartphone dubbed DL600 will be available at all Digicel Flagship Stores from Friday, May 24 for $24,000

A press release from the company explained that the DL600 features a large 3.5 inch display, the latest version of the popular Android OS (Jellybean 4.1), a 1 GHz processor and an aesthetically appealing and fresh design. It also comes fully loaded with a range of popular and useful apps which should allow customers to “do more, play more, listen more and share more”.

According to Digicel Head of Sales and Distribution, Nalini Vieira, “This dynamic smart phone will surely appeal to young people on the go who want style, functionality and affordability – as well as speed to suit their busy lifestyles.”

“Digicel is always looking for ways to make our products and services affordable for our customers; the introduction of our very own low-cost smartphone helps to make having the full benefits of an Android Smartphone a reality for our customers”, she added.

The company has stated that the sleek DL600 will give users the amazing Android experience with an attractive interface for only a fraction of the cost of other Android Smartphones.

Digicel has been rolling out new products ever since it jumped into the Guyana market just over five years ago. The company believes that its presence in Guyana is responsible for the reduction of cost for cellphones of all types on the local market.
