Dookie no longer heading SWAT Unit but returns to work in key A’ Division post

Deputy Senior Superintendent of Police, Motie Dookie has returned to his job in that capacity, but will not longer serve as Head of the SWAT Unit.

Acting Commissioner of Police, David Ramnarine, today confirmed Dookie’s return to work.

Dookie was held for questioning last December when he was found traveling in a bus with smuggled alcohol, prompting an investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility.

The Commissioner said departmental charges were recommended against the officer but those charges cannot be instituted in the absence of a functioning Police Service Commission.

Ramnarine said Dookie’s file was sent to the Secretary of the Police Service Commission and when the members of the new commission are sworn in, the charges will be addressed at that level.

Dookie is now serving as the No. 2 Sub Divisional Officer in ‘A’ Division, commanding one of the largest sub-divisions in the country.

Ramnarine said this was necessary because several other Senior Officers are currently on accumulated vacation leave and Dookie could no longer be kept “within four walls.”

He also alluded to several other officers who have been relieved from duty over the last two years because of wrongdoing.
