DPP advises no charges against father of suspect in shallow grave murder

The father of the suspect in the Linden shallow grave murder was this afternoon released from Police custody on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The DPP advised the Police that there was insufficient evidence to charge the man, Shawn Alleyne with any crime related to the murder of Shonnette Dover at the hands of his son, Shaquawn Alleyne.

The older Alleyne was arrested on Friday following the discovery of the body of Shonnette Dover in his son’s backyard.

He was arrested based on a statement by the teenage sister of the murder victim that the son had informed him of the shooting incident which left the woman dead.

While the man was allegedly informed of what had taken place at his son’s house, investigators found no evidence that he played any role in the disposal of the body.

The son, Shaquawn Alleyne, remains on the run from law enforcement. A wanted bulletin was issued for him last Friday and while the Police Force has been receiving some tips, all of those tips led to a dead end.

The teenage sister of the victim was today charged with accessory to the fact after murder. She has been remanded.
