Three months after the Police shooting death of Essequibo businessman Orin Boston in his home, the file on the matter has finally been dispatched to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

The investigation was first conducted by the Police Office of Professional Responsibility and later by the Police Complaints Authority.

Boston was in his home with his family when members of the SWAT Unit barged into the home during a reported search and shot the man while he was still in his bed.

The death sparked outrage across the Essequibo and the rest of the country, but the Police and Government officials rushed to the community of Dartmouth and met with the man’s family and villagers, assuring them of a thorough investigation.

Family members started to raise concern about the slow pace of the investigations recently as they were not being provided with information on the probe. Some family members complained that justice was being delayed and denied.
