The Alliance For Change met over the weekend to decide on the nine persons it will be sending to Parliament as part of the APNU+AFC coalition in opposition.

News Source understands that youth members, Juretha Fernandes and Sherod Duncan are likely to be among the AFC’s Nine members.

The other nominees for Parliament from the AFC are expected to be Beverly Alert, Ricky Ramsaroop along with returning members and former ministers Khemraj Ramjattan, Cathy Hughes, David Patterson, Raphael Trotman and Haimraj Rajkumar.

Sources close to the AFC have told News Source that Hughes and Patterson were initially having second thoughts about returning to Parliament but were convinced that as four new members from the AFC side make their way into the House, there was also the need for the leadership to be well represented.

The nine names for the AFC which were shared with News Source are expected to be submitted to the APNU’s Chairman David Granger who is the Head of the Coalition list. An AFC official told News Source that while the list was compiled and discussed, there is a possibility that there could be some changes.

The APNU, which is the other main partner in the coalition, has been looking at 22 of its members to head into the National Assembly.

The PNC which is the largest party in the coalition met today but there was no final decision on its team that it will be putting together.

Last week, the APNU+AFC’s Head, former President David Granger said the coalition team will have more women and youths than previous teams. He also said verifying the citizenship of the nominees is among the issues topping the agenda before they are chosen.
