The widow of murdered Herstelling carpenter Nathan Persaud, was remanded to prison earlier today after being charged for the man’s murder.

Persaud’s battered and lifeless body was found in his Herstelling, East Bank Demerara home. His wife, Gwendolyn Persaud later admitted that she had hired someone to kill her husband.

The woman appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court before Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.

The Court heard that on September 10, she murdered her husband, pursuing an arrangement where money was promised to a man by the name of “Jason.”

Persaud is accused and has reportedly confessed to hiring “Jason” to kill her husband. She will reappear in Court on October 13.

The 43 – year – old man was found last Thursday in his premises with several wounds to his head. He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A knife and hammer were found at the scene. The wife was arrested hours after the body was found when investigators suspected the home invasion and murder to be staged.

The couple was engaged in a dispute over a property which was engaging the attention of the court. A postmortem examination revealed that the now dead Persaud sustained some 20 wounds to the head.
