A family from Foulis on the East Coast of Demerara has been plunged into mourning after a 44-year-old man stabbed his 21-year-old son to death.
The dead youth’s name has been given as Satesh Sookdeo aka Kevin.
According to a Police statement, at around 8:35 on Saturday night, the father and his spouse was involved in a heated argument.
During the argument, the man grabbed the woman by the neck and started to choke her.
Upon seeing that, the son and another sibling intervened and that got the father even more upset.
The man retaliated by breaking a louvre pane, which he used to stab his son to the abdomen.
The youth collapsed and died. The father has since been arrested and is likely to face a murder charge in the new week. Police investigations are ongoing.
