Ecuador national jailed four years for fake US visas and cocaine

A 36-year-old Ecuadorian man, Julio Ceasar-Harreira, is waking up behind bars this morning after admitting to a City Magistrate that he came to Guyana with a plan to sell fake US visas.

He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cocaine.

The Court was told that on the 23rd May during a Police operation in the Charlotte Street area, the Ecuador national was found in possession of two fake US visas and a small quantity of cocaine.

He was arrested and charged with cocaine possession as well as conspiracy to commit forgery.

In Court, the man told the Magistrate that he was sorry for his actions but did not realise that possession of small amounts of cocaine and forgery were such serious offences in Guyana.

He pleaded with the Court for mercy.

The Magistrate sentenced him to four years in jail and he is to be deported on the completion of his jail sentence.
