The accused, Dwayne Gildharie, appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.

Essequibo man charged after allegedly throwing bag of cocaine from speeding car

A 40-year-old man from Lima on the Essequibo coast was today remanded to jail after he was charged for cocaine trafficking. 

The accused, Dwayne Gildharie, appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.

The Court appearance came just one day after his arrest. 

According to the Police, During an attempt to intercept Gildharie on Monday afternoon, the vehicle that he was driving, sped away from the scene.

A bag was observed being thrown from the vehicle and an examination of that bag unearthed over five pounds of cocaine in two packets. 

Gildharie was eventually tracked down by the Police and arrested.

His next court appearance will be on the 7th January.
