Five in custody after cocaine found strapped to bottom of vehicle at CJIA

The vehicle had reportedly been used to ferry ground provision and pumpkins to be shipped to Canada and was inside the CAMEX bond at the Airport when the discovery was made.

Five men are in custody and others are being investigated following the discovery of more than fifteen pounds of cocaine strapped to the bottom of a car that was inside a shipping bond compound at the Cheddi Jagan Airport.

The vehicle had reportedly been used to ferry a shipment of ground provision and pumpkins to be boarded as cargo on a flight to Canada.

It was inside the CAMEX bond compound at the Airport when the discovery was made.

According to CANU, the incident took place on Monday. The shipper, Navindra Sarwan, and his associates were all arrested following the cocaine find.

The investigations are ongoing and charges are to be filed in the matter shortly.
